# sudo apt-get update

# sudo apt-get install cups cups-client

This will take a while

Add a user to the lpadmin group

# sudo usermod -a -G lpadmin USER

Start the service

# sudo /etc/init.d/cups start

Now install elinks to see the admin pages

# sudo apt-get install elinks

elinks http://localhost:631

The web interface for cups is on port 631.

Cups logs are in /var/log/cups. There are two of particular importance: error_log and access_log.
